Major studies: Nursing.

Practical experience: Students undertake six clinical placements over the three years in a variety of health settings. In the final semester students have the opportunity to choose a clinical nursing speciality that is linked with industry in an area of workforce need, such as medical/surgical nursing, perioperative nursing, high-dependency nursing, oncology, palliative care, aged care, paediatrics, maternal and infant care, mental health, and rehabilitation or community nursing.

Honours: Available as an additional year to meritorious students who wish to undertake research training to make a contribution to scholarship and evidence-based nursing practice.

Professional recognition: Eligible graduates can apply for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Read the Registration Standards for Nursing and Midwifery on the AHPRA website at www.ahpra.gov.au

Career opportunities: Examples include registered nurse in a range of settings including medical/surgical nursing, paediatric nursing, aged care, community care, developmental and disability care, maternal and infant care, emergency and critical care, operating theatres, and nursing education and administration.

Additional information: Learner-centred approaches, including enquiry and situation-based learning, will enhance students' learning experience and readiness for the workplace. Students are required to provide evidence of immunisation, a valid first aid and CPR certificate from an accredited source, and a national criminal-record check prior to attending clinical placements at hospitals and other health agencies.

Enrolled nurses who have completed an approved Diploma in Nursing course may apply for admission to the Bachelor of Nursing (for Enrolled Nurses – Diploma entry) course 105518 or 105519.

Enrolled nurses with a Certificate IV qualification and/or who have completed a TAFE bridging course may apply for entry to the 3-year Bachelor of Nursing course and may be eligible for recognition of prior learning.
