Additional information: This program provides a foundation in civil engineering with an emphasis on current industry practices and a strong foundation in basic science, engineering principles, practice and management. Graduates have the knowledge and skills to undertake civil engineering projects and to practise as professional engineers. First year provides a foundation in mathematics and an introduction to engineering practices, electronics, mechanics, materials and design. In second and third year students develop the theoretical and technical design knowledge of structures, hydraulics, geomechanics and construction engineering. A final year integrated industry experience prepares students for entry to the workforce. Graduates may be eligible to apply for an initial teacher preparation program to qualify to teach industrial technology and design in secondary schools.
